2. Why you don't need Self-Discipline to Succeed

If you have to use self-discipline in your work,
you are doomed to failure. 

I don't have a self-disciplined bone in my body.
We all do things every day. We move towards
things we like and love, and move away from
things that cause us pain. 

Do you think I'm writing this article because I
am self-disciplined? Hell no! I'm writing it
because I get pleasure out of doing this - just
as I get pleasure from exercising, and I get
pleasure from eating a raw food diet.

Many people can't imagine gaining pleasure from
writing, exercising, or eating a Vegan Raw Food
Diet. But I, in fact, love doing these things.
However, there was a time in my life when I was
in high school and college that I hated
computers, writing, lifting weights and eating
fruits and vegetables.

So how did I do it? Did I use self-discipline to
make myself all of a sudden like these things?
Absolutely not. I am horrible at self-discipline.
But I am a motivated person as all people are.
Every single one of us on this planet is
motivated towards something.

Many of us are very self-disciplined at watching
TV, going to movies, playing video games, surfing
the web, eating out at our favorite restaurants,
or hanging out with friends. So we are all self-
disciplined. 

Get it out of your mind that you lack self-
discipline. You can get yourself to do just about
anything if you really want to do it.

Life is about pleasure and not about self-
discipline. You must learn to master the two main
motivating forces in life: Pleasure and Pain. 

Why do we file our income taxes? For most of us
it's not for the pleasure of it, but to avoid the
pain of going to jail or paying heavy fines. Why
do we want to go on vacation? Because we picture
all the enjoyment we will have. 

So the key question is: how was I (and how will
you) be able to get yourself to do things that
you currently don't like? 

There's obviously going to be a need of change
in your mindset. Are you going to have to force
yourself against your own will? This, I'm afraid,
can't be done for any great length of time.

What you have to do is to associate in your mind
more pleasure with the new activity and more pain
with the old activity. Then you have to keep
consciously doing this until you have established
a new habit. A new habit usually takes about 21
days to solidify, though it could take only a week.

Why is it that I enjoy writing now? It's not the
actual writing I enjoy, it's the ability to
express my ideas. I have a burning desire to help
people discover their full potential. Whenever I
discover something really helpful, I love sharing
it. That's just my personality type.

Several years ago I realized that writing is one
way, I can reach many people both via the
internet and through authoring regular books. My
desire for expression and the income I could
receive from writing overpowered my absolute
disgust at writing. 

I also had a major change in my outlook in 1987
so that I felt I had something to write about. I
started keeping a journal and often wrote in it
several times throughout the day. Eventually I
realized that I liked writing. I especially
realized that I like writing letters to friends.
I have no problem whipping out long emails. I
know that most people are not like that. But this
is all related to desire.

How did I get myself to do a Raw Food Vegan
Diet? By reading books about the diet. I was so
impressed by what could be done I figured what
the heck, I'll give it a try. Right away, I got
out of a six and a half year depression. 

Eliminating the pain of depression motivated me
to do the raw diet. If I ate at least 50% raw
foods throughout the day, I felt fine. When I had
days where I ate all cooked food, I quickly got
back into a depressed state. This has happened
over and over so I know it is the cooked food
causing this. In fact, I had tried several other
diets but they didn't have anything close to the
effects of a raw diet. So I don't think it was a
placebo effect.

But that was only a 50 to 70% raw diet. Yet I
knew there were many other benefits I would
achieve if I could go 100%. One day I ** decided
** to go 100% raw by focusing on all the benefits
and equating cooked food to being worse than
smoking. If you know me, I hate smoking with a
passion. So these things worked to get me started
off.

Then I said I'd just do it for one month. If I
don't like it, I can always go back. I gave
myself the freedom to go back - hoping I would
choose to stay raw. During the initial week, I
had a hard time. I was on vacation and we were
passing all these great restaurants. I started
focusing on all the meals I was missing out on.
This made me very hungry.

Then I realized what I was subconsciously doing.
So I changed my thoughts and focused on how well
I was feeling and on all the amazing benefits
that I would reap from doing this diet. I also
realized that one day it would be easy for me to
eat raw when it became a habit.

That day has come. I never think about going out
to cooked food restaurants anymore. That desire
has completely left me. To completely get rid of
the desire for cooked food took me about a year.
But each week was easier than the week before. 

You can train yourself to like anything. If you
like it or love it, you will be very self-
disciplined. So remember to use the force of
desire and you'll never fail again by trying to
use the concept of self-discipline or will power.
This desire you create must be a raging desire.
It must be really strong to get you over the
hurdle. 

I recently read a fantastic book that will teach
you how to find out what you ** really ** want
out of your life. The book is by Jack Zufelt and
is called, "The DNA of Success." In it Jack shows
you how to find your Core Desires. Once you find
your Core Desires, they will unleash the
Conquering Force of Desire within you. You will
be motivated by desire and not self-discipline to
achieve your dreams.

If you are like many other people and don't know
what you want out of life then this is the book

3) How to Get a Raise without Forcing Yourself to
Work Hard

The Easiest Way to Improve Your Efficiency
Without Forcing Yourself to Work Hard: You'll
also get a raise or make more money in your
business. 

How would you like to get a raise by using just
one simple technique that virtually anybody could
do? What if this same easy technique could
increase your productivity? How about if it gave
you more energy and assisted you in winning
friends and influencing people?

Well, you can have this easy technique. My
father used this technique all throughout his
working career. He makes over double the money of
other people in his same line of work because
he's so efficient.

Once I started using this technique, I gained a
minimum of two extra productive hours per day.
Sometimes I saved 4 hours compared to the way I
did things before I used this technique. 

One of the amazing effects it had on me was to
make me not want to watch TV. I used to be all
tired and lazy and so I'd sit in front of the TV
in the evenings just to relax, regardless of
whether or not what I was watching was enjoyable.
But when I started using this method, I only
watched the shows I had a deep interest in. I
actually wanted to get back to work late at night
because I had so much mental and physical energy
plus the mental clarity I didn't have before.

This, coupled together with my now wanting to be
more efficient throughout the day, helped me get
much more done. I have taken this technique to
the ultimate extreme, but you can get similar
benefits with much less effort than I did. I
guarantee that you'll be much more productive at
work. 

If you can increase your productivity in any
line of work, you are worth more money. People
are hired to solve problems. If you somehow
increase your problem solving ability, you become
more valuable. If you can't get a raise from your
present company you can shop around your new
found skills to other companies. You could even
contract out your skills or teach other companies
your methods as a consultant and still keep your
regular job.

If you are an engineer who can do a project two
or three times as fast as the next -- with the
same or better quality -- then you are worth more
money. If you are a reporter and you can do your
regular work and still have time to write your
own books and reports, you have created the time
needed to generate multiple streams of income for
yourself. 

What would you do with an extra hour or two per
day?

On top of all the other things this technique
gives you, it also saves you money. There are
many other benefits but I'll just tempt you with
these for the time being.

4. Radiant Health Corner
A) My letter to a close friend.

Hi Mike,

I really wish you could have come this evening
to the 12 - Steps to a Raw Food Diet. It was
fantastic. This stuff is life changing and I
don't think you can appreciate how important this
knowledge is. 

Three members of the Boutenko family gave a talk
about their experiences. It was mostly the mother
and then the son and then the father speaking.
They all had a variety of serious health problems
that they overcame by eating a Raw Food Diet.

The father mentioned something amazing and so
did the son. The father Igor, when he was younger
was an athlete and tried to do 100 pushups. He
could only get to about 60. Now 30 years later
he's been on the raw diet for a while (not sure
how long when he tried this). Then he did pushups
with those bars so that he was actually doing
something much harder now in dips. Anyway after
30 years and no practice he tried doing the
pushups/dips. He was amazed when he got to 100
dips. But he kept going. Then he hit 200, 300,
400, and 500, all the way to 1,000 in a row. He
could have done more. For him the raw diet gave
him incredible endurance. 

His son Sergei is a snow boarder. He goes and
does a day and night session, about 12 hours of
snowboarding. In all that time, he eats only two
oranges. He found that when he ate it slowed him
down. So he doesn't even spend any time in the
ski lodge. Can you imagine only needing two
oranges to fuel a 12-hour session of snow
boarding? He's really into snow boarding as well
and goes about 70 times a year.

Want to hear something really wacky? The
Boutenko family slept outdoors last night
(10/22/02 in Northern, NJ). They are very
resistant to the cold weather. They prefer
sleeping outdoors. Even though they could have
slept indoors. Victoria said they sleep mostly
outdoors. They can also live on wild foods. They
have spent months out in nature. They prefer
sleeping outdoors because they feel better more
oxygenated I guess. They get headaches from
sleeping indoors.

Then there was this amazing video presentation
about a blood cell analysis. 

Victoria showed a video of two people who were
100% raw for two months. Then they did a viewing
of their blood cells under a microscope. The
cells were floating around and round and
independent of each other. They weren't clumped
at all. There was lots of space between the cells.

Then they had them eat just one piece of chicken
wing and viewed the blood shortly after that. The
blood from both people became extremely
coagulated. The visual difference in the blood
cells was amazing. You can't imagine the
difference until you see it. The blood virtually
stopped flowing. Apparently this change lasted
for 24 hours. The coagulated blood that is. They
kept on testing these people and still the blood
was like that for 24 hours.

Nine years ago before they all went raw,
Victoria had an arrhythmia. Her pulse was so weak
you couldn't read it from her wrist. She weighed
300 pounds as well. She was also experiencing
Depression. Her husband had a severe case of
Arthritis. He also had a Thyroid condition and
the doctors wanted to remove it immediately. They
told him he would die within two months if he
didn't have it removed. Well he never had it
removed and he's still here 9 years later and no
arthritis on top of that. He became so much more
productive that he fired his workers from his
company. Now he did all the labor because of his
extra strength and endurance. 

Their daughter had Asthma and that was cured.
The son had Juvenile Diabetes which is incurable
according to medical doctors, was overweight and
was hyperactive and he is completely cured of
these things as well. He's normal weight now. He
never took any insulin. Insulin can be dangerous
and even lethal. This is well known in the
medical literature.

What maybe you don't fail to realize is the
absolute miracle that eating raw foods is. I hope
that you can spare a few hours this evening, even
if you can't see the whole presentation. I'd love
to treat you if you want to attend. The food was
very good as well. The cake had a consistency
like cheesecake. Actually, it was much better
because it didn't have that cheesy taste. 

I can't possibly express how important I think
this is and that you learn more about the
wonderful benefits of the raw diet first hand.
I'm sure your rock climbing would get better and
you can forget about getting any more Arthritis
in your hands. I got rid of Arthritis as well
with the Raw Food Diet. I don't even crave cooked
food at all anymore. I've completely adjusted and
don't even want it. So it takes a short time and
you'll be over cooked food completely. Once one
is over the addiction to cooked foods, then they
don't even seem appealing. 

One of the main things you have to realize is
that you are addicted to cooked foods. Cooked
foods are like a drug and are a slow poison. We
were never meant to cook our foods. Do you see
any animals in nature cooking their food before
they eat it?

Please come even if you can only come for an
hour or two. I think it's much more important
than selling your house. This is your life we are
talking about. You could be living a much better
life. The Boutenko's would show you that. Your
life might be good now, but you can't even
imagine the pleasure it is to enjoy the spiritual
bliss and bounty of raw foods. It revolutionizes
every area of your life. 

I'll call you again tomorrow just in case you

B) The Dangers of Supplements

Here's a very good article by my friend Madelyn 
Krystal Hill warning of the dangers of vitamin 
supplements. 

Supplements

As a raw food vegan who follows the principles
of natural hygiene, I do not believe in taking
supplements. However, I do not discount the fact
that for some people, it may be necessary as a
short term measure until the body's own vitality
can be restored. I can not discount the fact
that even placebos work for some people. And for
those who formerly took prescription medications
daily, smoked cigarettes and are now drug free
and down to one supplement, you are doing great
on your path.

However, the purpose of this writing is just to
make you aware of certain facts concerning
supplements and to remind you, that any powder,
pill, liquid, caplet ingested into the body which
is not organic, the body is going to accumulate
and store as a toxin. Over time, it may build
up into your system and take vital energy from
your body to expel.

Some combinations of vitamins and supplements
also have synergistic effects with one another,
medications and foods that can worsen your
condition. Some contain toxic byproducts which
can aggravate an existing condition. Some
vitamins are nothing more than crushed bacteria
with pulverized leaves. 

Sometimes you can change your diet, change your
attitude, change your life and you will say, wow
that supplement really worked. But in fact, you
got better in spite of it, not because of it. 

The true ingredients of supplements and foods
are often not easily identifiable to us due to
labeling laws which facilitate their disguise. 

Supplement manufacturers are NOT required to
base their advertising claims on controlled
trials approved by the FDA or anyone. They are
permitted to advertise and persuade via
testimonials that their products are natural,
safe and have no side effects unless and until
proven otherwise. 

I personally question every day how many people
have built up toxic levels of supplements and
vitamins. I know some people who have died from
this either in and of itself or as a complication
to an existing condition. No warning or
drug/nutrient interaction is required on the label.

The Dietary Supplement and Health Education Act
of 1994 places the burden on the FDA to prove
that a supplement is harmful before it can be
removed from the market. Without a review
process, substances like ephedra, fatal amino
acid products, contaminated supplements, etc. are
flooding the market. Most recently, yew tree
tea, an herbal tea labeled 'natural' and touted
as a supplement to boost the immune system was,
upon investigation, reported as the cause of
seizure and death. 

If every person could utilize inorganic
vitamins, anemia would not exist. People could
just eat a nail.

When manufacturers are forced to withdraw
supplements from the market, too often the same
supplement is re-marketed under a new name.

So if supplements are on your path for now,
maybe you should consider going off of them every
once in a while to detoxify. 

Listen to your instincts. Be safe, be aware and
most of all, stay healthy.
